Cosmetic Reconstruction Care

  • You may be experiencing tooth sensitivity to heat/cold.

  • Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater at least 3 times a day.

  • Take Tylenol or Ibuprofen every 3 to 4 hours to alleviate pain.

  • It’s normal to experience salivation more than usual in the days following your appointment.

  • Partake in regular brushing and flossing.

  • Stay away from foods that can damage your cosmetic restoration (i.e. candy, sticky foods, peanut brittle, red wine, tea).

Crown and Bridge Care

  • Avoid eating/drinking hot and cold foods until anesthesia wears off.

  • Immediately after treatment, refrain from eating foods that will take your temporary crown/bridge out of place (i.e. hard and sticky foods).

  • You may experience tooth sensitivity in the weeks following final restoration placement.

  • Take pain relievers as suggested by your dentist.

Tooth Extraction Care

  • If you experience blood clotting, this is normal. However, we ask you to place gauze pads on the area for at least 30 to 45 minutes.

  • Please avoid sucking on straws, smoking and drinking for up to 72 hours near the surgical site.

  • Avoid exercise and other hyperactivity for 24 hours after surgery.

  • If you experience swelling, place an ice pack directly onto the area.

  • Pain relievers may be taken only after consulting with your doctor.

  • After 24 hours, you may begin brushing and flossing as usual.

  • Swelling will subside within two days after surgery.

  • Drink plenty of fluids.

Composite Fillings Care

  • Do not eat or drink hot/cold foods until anesthesia has completely worn off.

  • If you need pain relief, take pain relievers as they are prescribed by your doctor.

If you experience any unusual swelling or pain that does not subside a few weeks after treatment, please visit us right away.
